HI, I am a 39 yr old female, and I think I might have missed something.

See my mom told me her generation had fixed everything. That the world was different in her day. That women in her day couldn't have a checking account or couldn’t call the police on her husband when there was abuse, that they didn't have the “right” to have a job. That women were supposed to take care of their families and fuck having dreams because that was something that just wasn’t part of the program

Well, It’s now 2018, and I think I might have missed something. I think I missed the part where you gave us all the “rights” but I didn’t see the playbook where you outlined how to take care of ourselves when we have to go live on our own and compete with men for jobs.

Remember when you gave us the “right” to have that checking account? I missed the part that included some fucking instructions on how to manage our money, stay out of debt, build wealth and eventually buy a home, you know, because we have to be Strong Independent Women and all that.

Oh and the job thing???? The bullshit 87 Cents for 40-60 hours a week to make ends meet? I missed the part and don’t have the playbook where you taught me how to create my own game instead and how to build the self-esteem to make it happen so I could get ahead and “have it all”.

Side note: I just want to mention this insanity where I have to be hot, funny, never ever be a bitch, be super inspirational, have a bunch of friends I travel with all the time, know how to cook, have children, and make sure they don't turn out to be mass murderers, sociopaths or victims, and also join the fucking PTA? That’s not gonna happen, so you can take that program back and shove it where ever it came from.

So here we are in 2018 with a fucking mess, we have a group of really smart girls, no playbook, and no one to lead us.

So I say fuck it, i’ll do it, we will do it, enough is enough. I am going to create the playbook, and I’ll be the person burning down this bullshit façade that's been created by the previous generation, making us have all these fake ambitions that ultimately we don't give a fuck about.

And I’ll be the one to push these smart girls into their bright futures- the futures they will create for themselves not because they are running away from men like the generations before, but because they just found out how powerful they really are.
